Respironics Charitable Foundation
Katrina Damage

"Prior to Hurricane Katrina, I knew that I worked with an exceptional group of people, but since Hurricane Katrina I have been constantly overwhelmed by the kindness and concern of my co-workers."

In 2005, hurricanes Katrina and Rita devastated parts of the United States, destroying property, damaging infrastructure, and—more than anything—changing lives. At Respironics, several of the Company’s associates living in the New Orleans area were directly impacted by the storms. Respironics responded by establishing the Respironics Charitable Foundation with funds donated by both the Company and its associates. Grants were offered to these individuals and their families to assist with temporary housing, home repairs, appliances replacements and other essential services.

The scope of the Foundation is not limited to the Company’s associates. In fact, the purpose of the Foundation is to provide aid to relive human suffering caused by disasters or other emergency hardships. It offers a meaningful way for Respironics to help associates with directed financial assistance as well as gives the Company a formal way to provide relief through donations of Respironics’ products to individuals and organizations seeking assistance during a natural disaster.

Respironics Charitable Foundation is approved by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation. The Foundation continues to serve as a way for employees to help one another, and for the Company to provide needed relief during times of crisis.
