Respironics Marks 30 Years of Growth and Innovation in Sleep & Respiratory Care

Foundation establishes Gerald E. McGinnis Fellowship in Sleep Medicine to advance education

30 year anniversary

Murrysville, PA, Oct. 4, 2006 – Respironics, Inc., (NASDAQ: RESP), a leader in the global sleep and respiratory markets, held a company celebration today at its U.S. headquarters, marking its 30th year of making medical devices that help people sleep and breathe easier. The occasion celebrated another record achievement in fiscal year 2006: surpassing $1 billion in revenues. The Company also announced a new fellowship program through the Respironics Sleep and Respiratory Research Foundation.

At the heart of the event, which took place on Respironics' 32-acre campus in Murrysville, Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh, was a tribute to the many contributions of the Company's founder and chairman, Gerald E. "Jerry" McGinnis in sleep and respiratory care. The ceremony included remarks by dignitaries and recollections by longtime friends, colleagues and leaders in the medical community who were instrumental in Mr. McGinnis' early efforts to bring innovative devices, such as anesthesia masks and the first commercial continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) device for treating obstructive sleep apnea, to the marketplace.
