Respironics was founded by Jerry McGinnis in 1976.
Respironics expanded manufacturing operations overseas in 1982.
Respironics released the world’s first commercially available Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) device in 1985.
In 1988, Respironics makes debut on NASDAQ stock exchange under the stock symbol RESP. The Company is publicly owned and traded.
Respironics released the first Bi-level Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP®) device in 1989.
Forbes Magazine names Respironics one of America’s best small companies in 1990.
In 1992, Respironics receives the U.S. patent for bi-level technology.
In 1997, Respironics expanded its International presence, opening an office in France.
Technological firsts include the REMstar® Pro 2 with C-Flex™, Encore® SmartCard® Data Management System, BiliChek® Noninvasive Bilirubin Analyzer, BiFlex® Technology, BiPAP® Vision Ventilatory Support System, Adaptive Aerosol Delivery®, Digital AutoTrak Sensitivity.
